Beyond Stammering

I have found the McGuire Program, I have tested it, I have lived it and I have come to love it.

It has been only three months into the program! I have not known a better way to tackle the devastating effects of stuttering.

As a covert stutterer, having carved my own unique set of tricks in the face of the mounting pressures of speaking situations, I was a total failure.

The sport-like and holistic approach and lifetime support the McGuire Program brings to the stutterer’s world has given me the freedom I have so much hoped for in time past.

I am becoming a stronger speaker each day and I like it – No! I love it!”

Hello Maria,

Here’s a short review for the course:

The McGuire Program has helped me take control over my stammer, and given me a sense of freedom and confidence like never before.

Only a day after returning from the program, I spoke to a Nobel Laureate visiting my university. My older self would have completely avoided that. But I said exactly what I wanted to say, not letting my fear of stammering dictate the conversation. It was liberating!

I can’t express how grateful I am to the program for giving me the hope that I can find my voice.

Thank you McGuire Program!

You are the best! :)

Maria,

The Vegas course (Mar 2nd-6th 2011) was simply fantastic and all the people who attended the course made it a very memorable one – it was a splendid 4 days in the “city that never sleeps”.

It almost felt like we were not getting enough sleep due to the tightly packed agenda, but we had nothing to complain about-  Chris Cooksey, our extremely funny drill sergeant, er, course instructor, was running 6hrs ahead on British time and was really not getting a wink!

Despite this fundamental human need, he did a fabulous job coaching new students and grads alike!

His analogies can never be forgotten (eg. Fluency is like a naughty puppy, the more you chase it, the farther it will run away… :) Thank you Chris!

The new students were ever so eager to learn “the technique” and their progression was exponential in such a short time.

Of course, there were some humbling moments for me when one of the new students during his contact session (he shall remain anonymous here for obvious reasons) accosted 2 pretty usher girls outside a casino in red feather-laced skimpy uniforms and asked:

“Duh…..Duh…..Duh…..Do you do…..any shows?”

To which they replied-

“We are not that kind of girls!!!”@$%*%#@@*&*#&&*

Yes, he almost got us arrested! But, being his coach, I am happy to report that he used full technique with excellent eye contact!!!

The biggest highlight, of course, was the visit by none other than the revered Dave McGuire. He taught us the 16 commandments, I mean- 8 laws, 5 directions and 3 rules. I don’t think I will forget them for the rest of my life J

I learn something new each time I go to a course.

This time I need to focus more on my hexagon to bring the circles even closer together.

Yeah, I sound like a geometrician, I know!

A BIG “Thank You” to Maria for making this a wonderful experience!

Cheers,

KV

Hi Maria.

Thanks so much for making this happen.  My honest review:

This was the best of ten or so courses I have been on.
Chris Cooksey brought just the right balance between discipline and acceptance.

I felt refreshed by the positive focused energy, and that allowed me to really overkill some fears through the contacts instead of feeling worn out as I have on past courses.

The contingent of strong UK graduates and a willingness to work on everyone’s part made for some real breakthroughs for everyone.
